Childrens Writing Competitions

Moto in the Community runs the long-established Books for Schools programme in partnership with Oxford University Press, through which over 280,000 books have been donated to adopted schools to improve literacy resources and libraries. As part of this initiative, the organisation promotes children’s authors while encouraging creativity and literacy among young students.

Each year, a different author was celebrated through a nationwide 200-word writing competition. To support and promote this, I designed a suite of engaging materials inspired by the featured author’s book. These included posters, bookmarks, and writing pads, all developed to appeal to children while staying true to the author’s creative style.

The designs were bright, playful, and imaginative, with a strong emphasis on capturing the excitement of storytelling and writing. Once produced, the materials were printed and distributed to schools across the country, ensuring wide reach and consistent visibility for the competition.

These resources not only promoted the writing competition but also encouraged young students to engage with reading and writing in a fun, accessible way, supporting Moto in the Community’s wider mission of improving literacy and fostering a love of books.
